Darkness to Light

They come and go
Ebb and flow
Quiet whispers
In the darkness.
I cry out into this darkness
My voice returns to me.
Answering my cry,
“Follow the step in front of you;
It will take you where you need to go.”

Who am I?
Where do I belong?
My heart sings its dirge
And continues to long
For the deep, long, wide, high
Love He gives;
Making me free,
Giving me reason to live.
Filling every empty place;
Moving me beyond this
Time and space.
Causing me to drink deeply
Of Eternity’s wine;
The hope of life that
Is mine
In Him.

His hands, His feet
His side;
Thorns piercing flesh.
His deep heart cries;
My freedom, my healing
My remedy;
The pain
That bought my
Victory
Is His.
And mine.
Because He’s given it to me.
How I can I live
Except to be
His – Alone?

All that is me
All that is real
Belong to Him.
Closing the door
On things that
Cause my heart’s desire
To dim.
Walking away
Into Light’s beauty.
Living the grace
That shatters the darkness;
Being free
To follow His pace,
To Eternity’s door
Where I find true life
And live no more
In the darkness and shadows
Of false existence.

I stumble, fall,
Rise, walk,
Stumble, falter
Rise, crawl.
Lifting my hands,
Lifting my heart;
Reaching for Him
Seeking to see
Only to feel
His hand
Gently enveloping me.
Moving me on
Pressing me into His
Presence
His guidance,
His love,
His life,
His freedom,
His pain,
His joy,
His suffering,
His victory.
